Dr Raksha Bhattarai
(Rank 1, BPKIHS MD/MS Entrance-2018)
MBBS: BPKIHS, Dharan
OPN: Congratulations Dr Raksha.
Dr Raksha: Thank you very much Online PG Nepal.
OPN: How does it feel to be a topper of such tough and competitive exams? How much hopeful were you for such Rank?
Dr Raksha: It definitely feels great to have received the result of one’s hard work in such a rewarding manner. However ranks in competitive exams such as these are very unpredictable . So the only thing I was hoping was to give my best during preparation phase and the exam itself. Also, BPKIHS being my Alma mater has made this moment even more special.
OPN: Who would you like to share your credit of success with?
Dr Raksha: My family who have showered me with so much of love and support , specially my husband Dr. Bhawani Khanal who has been my pillar of strength ever since he stepped into my life . My close friends, teachers, seniors , juniors and all the people who have positively influenced me ever since I started my mbbs also have contributed to it.
OPN: Please share your brief story after internship till the PG success day.
Dr Raksha: Well although slow and not so steady I had started preparing from my internship days. But due to hectic schedule it wasn’t very effective at that time. When I joined my MO-ship I made sure to study in a regular basis even though only few hours a day during initial months .Afterwards it became kind of a schedule and I was able to allocate enough time for self study with proper time management. It was only during the last two months prior to BP exam when I studied up to 8 hrs on a daily basis.
OPN: How tough are entrance exams these days? How should an aspirant choose a smart way to excel?
Dr Raksha: Needless to say with ever rising number of UG and PG seats so few and far in between the scenario is a bit scary. But one has to start early and make a study routine that is consistent and maximally effective and never to loose hope on the way.
OPN: What are the books and other resources you used for entrance preparation?
Dr Raksha: For theory I went through FA , Pathoma and Kaplan videos(not all) . I practiced MCQS from Mudit Khanna All India PG from 1994 to 2016. I revised FA multiple times during this period.
OPN: What advices would you like to give to future PG aspirants?
Dr Raksha: Patience and persistence is the key to success in my opinion. Everyone can make it with hard work sooner or later. One has to keep going in the right track.
OPN: 1 month before exam, what shall students focus on?
Dr Raksha: review the already read mcqs and self made notes. In my case I also revised entire FA in the past month.
OPN: OPN: How can aspirants parallel their PG preparation and job together?
Dr Raksha: It’s a challenging task but one has to try his/her best. Even marking 100 MCQs and 5 pages of FA on a daily basis would be of huge benefit.
OPN: How can an aspirant prepare smart to excel competitive exams? Any tips about reading habit, memorizing and practicing technique?
Dr Raksha: Personally I always went after mastering basic sciences concepts over mugging things up.This strategy is useful during the initial phase of preparation. As exams approached, solving more and more mcqs helped me boost confidence level.
OPN: You ranked always high in our regular Model Tests. How much helpful wan Online PG Nepal services to you?
Dr Raksha: It made a huge difference in boosting my confidence level and helped me focus more on my weakness areas.Questions that were provided in model tests were very much similar to that of real exams in terms of overall pattern.
OPN: Anything you would like to share more?
DR Raksha: To the people who couldn’t make it this time, just don’t loose hope and do continue with your study keeping in mind that many more exams are yet to come and better opportunities are waiting for you.
Dr Raksha: OPN: Thank you for your precious time. Congratulations once again.
Dr Raksha: Thank you for the platform you have provided.
